The Tour
Caesarea is an ancient port city founded in 13-25 BC and named after the Roman emperor Augustus Octavianus.
After the establishment of the province of Judea, the city was the Roman administrative center in Judea.
In fact, it was the place where modern Judaism was founded, founded by Rabbi Akiva.
You are invited to discover the fascinating history of Caesarea as part of the SEGS EZ Raider tour. The tour, which is guided by highly experienced guides, passes through many ancient and archaeological corners that you did not know about.

Our tour departs from the operational area of the Caesarea Golf Club. From there, we will pass through the Roman villa with the bird mosaic. This is a magnificent mosaic floor belonging to a Byzantine palace built between the end of the 6th century and the beginning of the 7th century. The mosaic extends over a length of 16 meters and a width of 14.5 meters, and is decorated with beautiful animals, birds and large fruit trees.

After seeing the impressive mosaic floor of the Roman villa, we will drive through a peaceful eucalyptus grove to the aqueduct of Caesarea. It is a system of aqueducts that was active since it was founded by Herod until the 13th century. The aqueducts led water to Caesarea and enabled the supply of running water to the city.
From here we will continue to the Roman city wall. During the Byzantine period, when Caesarea was at its peak, the wall was 2.6 km long and protected the city's residents from enemies.

We will end the tour with a visit to Rabbi Akiva's synagogue "Kenishta Madreta". The synagogue, located in the Caesarea National Park, is one of the oldest synagogues in the world that exist in the Land of Israel. The synagogue functioned at the end of the Second Temple period, and this is the place where Rabbi Akiva was captured by the Romans, executed there and died for the sanctification of God. In addition, in the synagogue, a quarrel broke out that led to the great rebellion. In the eighth century, after the Muslim conquest, the synagogue was destroyed by a powerful earthquake.
